The Urwa Fund عروة

A handhold for those who need one.

The Urwa Fund moves resources from where they gather to where they are needed.

Our namesake

Urwa ibn al-Ward was a poet and outlaw of 6th-century Arabia. In hard years he gathered the poor and sick of his tribe, sheltered and fed them, and shared everything he took from the wealthy with those who had nothing.

In Arabic, urwa means "handhold," something to hold onto. That is what we aim to be.
